So, hello and welcome to 2010! Whole new fucking decade. I managed to lose my bank card and my grade(s) average (we don’t have a GPA over here, it’s just letters. A, B, C, D, E or U, unless you’re a GCSE student, in which case it’s A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, G or U) and I’ve got approximately 1,640 words left to write on my stupid frigging History coursework in, oh, 6 days. Fuck my life. Ah well, I’ve got 6 days, a massive drive and lots of resources to do it with. And I’ve finished my English coursework! So, hopefully, I haven’t failed.

My Christmas was pretty fuckin’ good. Got a laptop and have been finding my way around it ever since. I detest the lack of mouse, but adore the social aspect of it. And the improved Internet signal. I was in my room previously, writing in a freezing cold room with shitty signal. Currently, I’m in the living room con la mia famiglia, with “Friends” on in the background.

This may or may not be an epically long blog, depending on whether or not I can be fucked enough to write. I think I need to vent to you guys anyway. So, first item (not ranked in importance, just how I can remember them):

1. James “The Rev” Sullivan (1981-2009)

 Yeah, so…Tuesday 29th December, I was catching the entertainment news when I read the title “Avenged Sevenfold drummer found dead”. Those of you who have been living under a rock the past month, a very talented sticksman kicked the bass drum (the bucket, but he WAS a drummer) aged just 28. The cause of death is natural causes, ma non si creduto…but I don’t believe it one single bit. Sadly, the Orange County people weren’t treating it as suspicious, but toxicology tests have now been ordered apparently. Gotta say that I did really like Avenged Sevenfold, and my heart goes out to them and the Sullivan family. It’s a huge, huge waste of life when that kind of shit happens. My thoughts to them. I wonder what A7X are going to do with regards to their planned #5? They were just going to record it when The Rev died. Shit.

2. The Haiti Earthquake

Another recent thing that struck me hard. I remembered it just as I was typing the paragraph about The Rev but I moved it up in the list, because it’s obviously more important and recent than the other things I was going to type about. Actually, truthfully, it’s the first time that I’ve seen that picture, and it puts it all into perspective, to be honest. Incredibly devastating – and I love the response from the US and UK (this is only what I’ve heard) – $6,000 and £250,000 sent in so far. What I’ve seen, you’ve got Alex Pardee (my favourite artist), Zachary Quinto and Terra Naomi as well as high(er) profilers like Lady GaGa and My Chemical Romance contributing as well. It’s great to see that, respect to them and everyone else contributing. Makes me feel very guilty, actually, like I should be doing something. If I find something. I promise. I will. In the meantime, my thoughts and crossed fingers are with those affected.

3. Michael C. Hall’s cancer

Another thing that made me go “What…the…FUCK?” when I read it on BBCi and had to return  to it and read it over and over again before it sank in: Dexter has cancer. Okay, so LUCKILY, it is a treatable/ curable form of it, thank goodness. But it’s just the word itself that hits me (again! Several things have hit me a LOT in the past month. No idea why, when none of them directly affected me.)But it must be horrible for him considering he lost his own dad to cancer. Fingers crossed for the guy, hope it’s successful for him.

Those are the three main things I wanted to comment on, really. There is one other thing that is non-public and still has nothing to do with me…

4. The boy my best friend’s heart is fixed on.

I will not name, but he is a nice boy.  Not my type, he likes Cute Is What We Aim For and tbh he sounds just a little bit thick, he’s musiciany enough. I don’t like him, though. I don’t like how he fucks around with my friend’s head and heart, making her think he fancies her just as she fancies him, and then getting in and out of relationships with other people like people get in and out of socks. It’s like, “if you don’t fancy her, PISS OFF.” I’m deadly serious. If he fucks around with her again then goes off with some other bitch, I’m going to fuck around with his face. I can’t stand what he does, ergo, I can’t stand him. I don’t even know why he’s in a band, cause he can’t sing all that great and YES, NEITHER CAN I but…y’know. And I’m sorry, X (the friend), if you’re reading this, but X (the crush) is a complete twat. Much like someone else in the public eye…

5. Dappy may need crutches

Dappy is a bloke from a UK band named N-Dubz. Go look ‘em up if you don’t know who they are. I do like their music, but I have a total lack of respect for them – Dappy in particular, he’s the short one with the stupid fucking hat – cause they’re such bloody hypocrites. They were appointed “ambassadors against bullying” just a few months ago, and on Tuesday, when N-Dubz were on Radio One, apparently a young woman sent in a text calling N-Dubz “losers” and Dappy in particular was apparently “repulsive”. Dappy apparently copied down her number and sent her threatening text messages. FOOT-SHOOTING ALERT. He also claims to be all anti-teenage pregnancy and having a baby in an unstable relationship as well as anti-violence, yet he’s been uncovered as rapping violent lyrics to the police and, oh yeah, he’s got a son with his ex-girlfriend. Hence another foot-shooting. I can’t enjoy their music any more, really, much as I’d like to, because of that short-arse twat in the stupid hat. What a cock.

Anyway, I’m going to finish up, cause this has frozen several times over the past 50 minutes. Imma go and watch “Heroes” in a minute or six, with Zachary Quinto in. Plug, plug, plug. I’ve written a lot more than I thought. No songs to tell either.

I’m going to do something I never do, and that is beg. PLEASE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE. It doesn’t matter if, by the time you read this, it’s been decided. Please vote. Even if you don’t know who the fuck these people/ bands are (usually X Factor people have no idea who Rage are), listen to both and then vote.

Personally I’d go for Rage Aginst the Machine because I am fucking sick of Satan Cowell monopolising the UK Christmas Number One and it’s time for us to take the power back. Plus, Joe McElderry’s “The Climb” is as bland as…well, a bland thing in Blandland on bland tablets. There’s nothing that would convince me to go for him anyway. No power. No emotion. Cowell obviously abducts the public and uses mind-control techniques to brainwash everyone into buying “The Climb”.

Anyway…

Beh. That’s what Italians say. I promise you. I am taking Italian. It comes up in conversations in the textbooks. “Beh, [insert Italian sentences here]“. It’s like going “hmmphhh” or “uuuurggghhhh” when you’re fed up, sure as shit is brown and turd covers vomit, such as Leona Lewis doing Oasis’ “Stop Crying Your Heart Out”. My God. She’s done two covers, and they are both godawful. She needs to stick to her own. Really. Truly. And I don’t even like Oasis. Whoaaa, stream of consciousness. And Alicia Keys has really thrown it down the shitter recently, like the Black Eyed Peas – neither of them have released anything good since “Fallin’” and “Where Is The Love?” respectively. Although to be fair, “No One” was good, from Alicia. Oh my God, I am a bitch. I really mean it.

Although at least I can accept other peoples’ contrasting opinions on things I love or like. Most of the time. More than others, and that’s no-one in particular, I just hate it when people categorically refuse to accept other peoples’ opinions. That’s just it. This is it, etc., banana, amen. And I love Innocent Smoothies. When I rule the world I will make them cheaper so EVERYONE CAN BUY THEM. Well. That’s what would happen if I rule the world.

–>Back on track: I saw “Avatar” on Thursday. Yep…the one with Zoe “Uhura” Saldana in. The one by James Cameron. The one that’s been hyped up for a million years. I was half expecting it to be absolute balls (big budget + some big names + big name behind big film + 60% CGI =/ a good film) but it was an absolutely heartbreaking film. I shit you not. I rarely cry at films (or I try not to, being the ‘ard nut I am) but I nearly cried twice during it. It’s quite good. I’m going to post a picture if I can find one. It’ll probably consist of 9′-tall, blue-skinned, yellow-eyed cat people:

And “Harry Potter” 6 was shit, before anyone else mentions that.

I’ve been ill since Wednesday, with a flu I haven’t had since I was 14. I’m a LOT better than I was since Wednesday, but I’m still feeling pretty crap. It’s not overly fair .

I’m off. I’ll either be celebrating or commiserating Rage Against The Machine’s Xmas Number One victoire. If I don’t see you before Christmas, have a cracking one. Or Hanukkah. Or pagan rituals. Whatever you do…

I’m really sorry about not blogging for a while, but I’ve been spending too much time failing English coursework, battling romance and winning and…eh…watching “Star Trek”. The one with Mr Sexy and his brother, who makes a brief cameo as a Romulan. You know, after Kirk ‘n’ Spock beam down onto the Romulan ship and there is a LONG close-up of a Romulan’s face? That’s Joe Quinto, Zachary’s older brother. Yes…OLDER. I won’t say how I got that information.

I really wish it was as easy to write a few thousand words in English as it is to write a few hundred in milliseconds on here, no question. I would get an A and all would be fine and fuckin’ dandy. (The reason why I am not at college right now is because I don’t start til 11:30 because I don’t have History til January BECAUSE of the coursework. Haha). Anyway, you see? The little wordcounter at the bottom says I’ve written over 200 words already.  I wish it was that easy.

I’m actually quite chuffed about this. A tiny theme I composed is going to be used in the college production of “Troilus and Cressida” as Cressida’s theme. I practically shrieked when my tutor told me, haha. The separate themes (by the entire A-Level Music class) were composed in October but only a few of them were picked for the production, I think. And mine was one of them!!

Oh, I also went to see “New Moon” on Sunday. Now, before you roll your eyes/ commit suicide/ scream in terror/ scream in delight, I AM IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM A TWILIGHT FANGIRL AT ALL. I enjoyed the books, but the first film was, let’s just say, DIRE. Like the new Harry Potter film, actually [see http://makedetailednotes.wordpress.com for an opposing view]. Oooooh…Anyway, I went in expecting it to be shit. And it wasn’t. It was really good and has given me hope for “Eclipse” (directed by the same bloke who directed the rather excellent “Hard Candy” – HA HA HA HA HA!!!), out next year.

Though honestly, with many scenes which I will not spoil here, I don’t see how “Breaking Dawn” is going to be a 12.

Yes, Megan Fox…I have not seen “Jennifer’s Body”. I did, however, have a strange dream in which she was a maneating (not in the literal sense as it is in the above film) conwoman and I was the person hunting her down. Just as it got to the climactic standoff…my alarm went off. I was thoroughly disappointed, not to mention very tired because I was evidently in quite a deep sleep if I was dreaming. Yesterday was a VERY long day.

I am also terminally confused. I got a letter from someone at college inviting me to an Oxbridge meeting. This would be all well and good if that same someone hadn’t told me in February that both my predicted grades and GCSE grades were not quite high enough to get INTO Oxbridge. I was going to do Music that year, in case you wanted to know, but if I do go there I’ll be doing Italian. So anyway, my tutor is just emailing that someone to clear it all up for me.

I’m going to go now as I still have to pack for college and shit before 10:50, which is when I leave the house.

Starting with coursework.

If there are any English/ Welsh people reading this (hello to you Cymraegs!) who haven’t left school yet, I’ve got one word of advice for you (well, more like one paragraph). You may not even be thinking about it anyway, but imagine it: You’re 16 years old. You’ve just left compulsory education with 11 GCSEs, all A* to B. You can, quite literally, do anything you want. Insert-every-life-changing-and-quite-important-job-cliché here or insert-every-generic-menial-or-shitty-job-here. Whatever you choose to do, I’ve got five words for you:

DO NOT TAKE ENGLISH LITERATURE.

It may be highly appealing to you and the next logical step to take as you a) love reading and read like a motherfucker and b) got As in GCSE Language and Literature. Even if you get that B at AS English Literature, 9 marks away from an A, the A-Level coursework will EAT YOU ALIVE. I promise. Three thousand words on symbolism and imagery, guilt and redemption, good and evil or masculinity and femininity within Donna Tartt’s “The Secret History” (which, conveniently, I really enjoyed and will read again now the incredibly detailed and skeleton-deep push to analyse is over), Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” (good, but not commendable) and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter” (quite dreary when it all comes down to it). Ick. Not only that, you have to put in criticism from other, er, critics. I was very notably shit at that.

Lesson of the day: No English Lit A-Level. Unless, of course, it’s vital to your chosen career.

I’m not actually in my freezing cold room right now; I’m babysitting a 15-month-old girl who is now asleep. She was very good; the only thing was frustration because she got very tired and was playing with her fruit and I couldn’t understand what she wanted. Luckily, she cried herself to sleep after a nappy-change and a struggle whilst getting her PJs on (she hates that, apparently). It’s all good. I don’t know when the parents (who are coincidentially absolutely lovely family friends of ours) are going to be back; I did overhear one of their sons say to a friend who came calling for them “around midnight”. I’ve been here since 5 PM. It has been hinted that I’ll get money for it, mind (“you’re our first official babysitter, so I’ll have to check rates” – Clarisse, the mama) but not really expecting anything.

It’s quite good experience, mind. It’s definitely confirmed to me that I’ll be 27 – ten years from now – before I have my first child. Maaaaahhhhhhh. That wasn’t a weird sheep impression by the way. I think that’s my fingers telling me, “MOVE THE FRAK ON, MIKA!!”

DVDs. I love them. They have become significantly more useful since the video cassette went the way of the dodo. Wait, they’re still used today – Okay, the way of the……….insert-almost-extinct-animal-here. Anyway. DVDs. If you preorder them, they may come early. When I preordered “The Dark Knight” this time last year it came 2 days before general release. I though “Star Trek XI” would be the same this time this year. Um, today, I mean. Well, obviously not otherwise I would be happily watching Zachary “Sucky Surname When Translated Into English” Quinto running around in pointy ears and slightly tight things. Well, he does look very smart in it ANYWAY. I hoped it would come today and I was pretty deflated when it didn’t and remained deflated until Sainsbury’s promised myself and my brother that the Pine ‘n’ Quinto advertising stand would remain reserved to us.

Ohhh yeaaaahhh.

And that, my friends, is how much of a frakking geek I am. Hey, I got into “Battlestar Galactica” when I was 15 and was VERY disappointed when it ended, hence why I say “frak” rather a lot. I even named my 8gig 4G purple iPod “Starbuck”. Lawl. It says all this on my profile. And yeah, this blog title is deliberately alphabetical, ruined only by the “&”, which is technically “and” anyway.

1: X-Factor

Ah, “The X-Factor”. Basically, it’s like Pop Idol, American Idol, all that crap, but it’s current. And not American. Obviously. I don’t watch it by my eleven-year old brother has a strange fixation on it and even my parents catch it. Mum says she doesn’t like it but I call bullshit on her. Lawl. Anyway, apparently there are these twins, John and Edward Grimes aka Jedward, and they are truly terrible or something. I dunno. They’re in the final, and Simon Cowell says he would leave the country if they won. AND YET HE WAS THE ONE WHO SENT THE WELSH GIRL HOME AS OPPOSED TO THEM! Maybe in his mind he’s done right but if I was in his shoes – and if I knew what they were like – I’d send them home. I blame twelve-year old girls keeping them in because “OMG theyr soo hotttt!!!!11!!!11!!!!” (Mind you I am like that over Zachary Quinto, but he is actually lovely to look at as opposed to those two.) I really, honestly, truly hope Jedward fuck X-Factor up to the point where it won’t be recommissioned (right word or wrong word?) next year. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. I suppose that’s why Robert Pattinson is so popular, y’know. Teenagers scream over him, and I personally think he looks like a stoner who has just rolled out of bed (sorry, Looby [http://makedetailednotes.wordpress.com], I know you love like him ). Speaking of celebrities others regard as “bed-worthy”, this brings me onto my next subject. Good Lord, I can feel myself going traffic-light-red already. Must be the Irish in me.

2. Zachary Quinto

You may also know him as Sylar off “Heroes” or the (younger and bloody sexier) Spock off the new “Star Trek” film (OUT ON DVD THIS TIME NEXT WEEK BY THE WAY! Buy it. It’s GOOD.) Or you may not know him at all, in which case…where HAVE you been for the past six months? Or maybe as a fangirl for just under 2 years I do pay attention. Aha. Anyway. Here’s a picture. Anyway, shit humour aside, I’ve given up on the “Day #X” cause frankly I was never good at Maths and it has been a while since I posted on here (I even forgot my password. Fail of the msot epic kind seen in years. Including spelling “most” wrong. SORRY…I just type so quickly I don’t even notice until it’s too late).

OUR KITCHEN IS FINALLY FINISHED!! It’s just the dining room and living room floor needed to be done. Mum & Dad were glossing our new doors – in fact, sorry, I lie, they were glossing EVERY door in the kitchen/ dining/ living room area they could reach. “MUST…GLOSS! MUST…GLOSS!” Anyway. It’s spacious and pretty and I really can’t wait until it’s all finished. Mostly because we run the risk of breaking our necks every time we go into the conservatory or in the brand-spanking-new utility room. Haa.

Good Halloween everybody? What did you do? Trick or treat? Horror binge? Pretend not to be in when trick or treaters come round? Go to a fancy dress party? I did the last one! I went as a cross between Sally from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and Jennifer Check off “Jennifer’s Body”. i.e. bleeding zombie cheerleader type thing. I got my cheerleading outfit from a sex shop actually so I had to wear a vest-top underneath so my boobs didn’t show. No, I’m not posting pictures here. I’ve only got one, it’s on my Dad’s camera and I’m sure he won’t be impressed with wanking material placed on here. Not that the picture is overtly sexual. Ew. :S

And FarmVille! Are you on FarmVille on Facebook?! I am, and it’s all Dad’s fault. He needed neighbours so last month I caved in and reluctantly joined it. I’m now Level 19 and can plant grapes. NOW GIMME ORANGE HAY BALES, BITCHES. Seriously. I love it. Fucking do. Although FBook is being a bitch so I can’t screenshot and post photos at the moment. The knowledge that I’m growing grapes will have to do…

I’m also desperately trying to get my ex-boyfriend back. I was torn between him and Matt, the boy who sits next to me in History, but my heart finally made up its mind on Wednesday (during work…again). So…yeah. I’m talking to him tomorrow. Wish me luck, everybody.

It’s college again.

I’m extremely fucked off with them.

We are FORCED to learn about FUCKING John Cage. We’re made to listen to his so-called “”music”". We’re made to ANALYSE THE SHIT out of his “”music”". We had to PERFORM this “”music”" today at a concert.

Which really wasn’t a concert at all. My beloved teacher (whom I will not name) took it upon himself to TURN IT INTO A TWO AND A QUARTER HOUR LESSON ON JOHN FUCKING CAGE! And it wasn’t just me he was pissing off too – apparently, there were students coming out saying “I didn’t want to do that”, my father said “That was a shit concert…the worst I’ve ever been to” and other parents said similar things.

TWO AND A QUARTER MOTHERFUCKING HOURS on something that should only have taken about and hour and a half. Oh, not a concert at all. Noise, noise, noise, bullshit, noise, noise, noise and MORE fucking noise from the Tracy Emin of music. And you KNOW my views on Tracy Emin…or if you scroll further down the blog, you’ll actually see a pig-ture. I mean, picture. But how DARE college? Okay, when I joined I DID expect there to be some level of public performance required. But being forced to do ensembles AND solos, being marked against the standard Edexcel board marking sheet from them, getting SHIT-ASS grades and then being forced to listen to THAT bullshit has seriously put me off performing. I used to love it, love it to pieces, when I was in school and not forced to do it.

So thankyou, dear, SWEET fucking college, for RUINING music for me, at least in THAT respect. Kaoss pads don’t belong in classical concerts. Proper fucking instruments do. Lesson learned if you don’t want to piss off The Haeli.

Good Lord, it’s half 11 at night – 23:31, according to my computer clock. I can feel the edges of my contact lenses, which probably means I’m getting really tired. Oh, speakin’ ‘a’ lenses, I need to phone Vision Express and scream, “GIMME SOME CONTACT LENSES BITCHES!” I’ve run out already and I’ve got another week or so until I get the next 3 months’ worth. I hope. They text me three times to say “Your contacts are ready”, or some shit to that effect. They haven’t given me enough to last out the month – WHY? Oh. Ooh, 400 words. Just over. “Oh” was just a filler word. In fact, this is a filler sentence.

I’m going to watch “EastEnders” and go to bed now. 23:36. See you in Dreamland. I have no Currently Listening or Song Of The Day because, well, I can’t be fucked to find one, quite frankly.

Anyway, as the title says, I’m going to talk to you about a TV series which is currently gnawing away at the fringes of my mind…wow, that’s actually a little extreme…but anyway, I love it muchly and I think you will too (if you like the idea of irony in America, that is).

It is quite popular, or so it seems…it’s not very well publicised over here in the UK but when I mention it to people, 90% of the time they HAVE heard of it. Which always surprises me. And I have the distinct feeling that I keep spelling “surprises” wrong. What kind of Lit student am I eh? (lol). Anyway…what a lot of people don’t know is that the TV series is based off a (superior) book series by a bloke called Jeff Lindsay. All with alliterative titles, all very sharp, all with irony in. Brilliant. And like the TV series (excluding Season Four because I’m not going to see THAT for at least another year over here), the order quality goes like this:

#3 (“Dexter in the Dark”)

And there’s a fifth one coming out soon as well, supposedly – called “Dexter is Delicious”. To which I now think, “you’re not joking, mate” (okay, Michael C. Hall IS quite fit from the neck down even if he IS old enough to be my father ;) ). Anyway! I’m storming through Season Two of the series at the moment. Not liking Dexter 2.0, developed by the Lila Tournay company. I know what happens to her – I managed to catch the last 2, 3 episodes on ITV at the start of the year – but I needed to catch up with the whole kaboodle before Season Three (kinda failed on that point as I was STILL halfway through Season One). Point being I have almost fully caught up with Dexter now; closing the gap between S2 ep. 8 and S2 ep. 10 like a train-track closes gaps between teeth. Not a nice image.

D’you have a blank look on your face with regards to what it’s about? Okay, I can sum it up in less than ten words: forensics bloke is vigilante serial killer by night. That’s all, really. That’s the simplest way I can explain it to you without spoiling it or spending all night on it when I really should be planning English Literature coursework!! Oh, and Rolfe Kent’s title theme is great – like Danny Elfman went to Latin America for a few weeks and then wrote this. Almost. The music used throughout the show is great as well – there’s one theme I want to know the name of.

Anyway.
